Easy Naan Pizza – What Our Kids Love

Easy Naan Pizza RecipesLet’s be real…These adorable little human beings who incessantly call us mommy and daddy require a lot! My mother always said, “parenting is a little bit like work!” As a mother of three toddlers I concur! The best, hardest, and most rewarding work I may add.

If you’re anything like me, the thought of feeding your Littles can become one of the most dreaded tasks of the day! We struggle to execute this daily duty while also attempting to throw a healthy fruit or veggie in there. All the while, working some black magic to make it all taste like a Sour Patch Kid.

The struggle is real. I’m not a miracle worker! However, our kids think we can make new tasty and fun meals at the drop of a hat. And God forbid we feed them the same food for two days in a row. My five year old has informed me this action is of the highest offense. Insert eye roll here.

Pizza Like A Chef

Don’t get confused – I’m no Gordon Ramsay. Some days I’d like to be! And some days I feel more like a line cook on an episode of Hell’s Kitchen. I’ve also referred to myself as “the lunch lady.” A grumpy, underappreciated, on a budget, and slightly crusty lunch lady.

I can assume I’m not the only mother out there who has slaved to get that lunch tray out only to receive distasteful feedback. Sigh. This is what sparked in me the motivation to do some homework. What do other kids like? What do they not like? What is reasonably healthy and something my kids could even participate in making?

Here enters our Naan Pizza lunch experiment. Although I’m sure they’re out there, I’ve not come across many kids that do not get pretty keyed up for pizza. Naan pizzas are the Matthew Mcconaughey of pizzas. So delicious, so versatile, so easy.

Easy Naan Pizza Recipe

1. Sweet Craisin Chicken Naan Pizza

A thin layer of Sweet Baby Ray’s Honey BBQ sauce keeps the Naan bread from drying out. Top with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella and chicken. I like shredded seasoned rotisserie chicken. Adding Craisins incorporates a more sweet and tangy flavor. And if we are needing those extra veggies, my kids love sauteed green peppers and red onions. Bake in 375 degree oven for 3 minutes or until cheese melts.

I add dried oregano, garlic powder and salt for additional flavor. Baked in the oven at 375 degrees for 3 to 4 minutes or until cheese melts.

What better way to incentivize your kids to eat lettuce and tomatoes than smothering them with crumbled bacon? This BLT Naan Pizza is super easy and a huge hit with my pork-obsessed children. Ranch is a great base for this Naan pizza recipe. Topped with shredded mozzarella, cooked bacon, arugula, and halved cherry tomatoes, your kids will be sure to ask for seconds!

4. Caprese Naan Pizza

I love growing fresh basil on my window sills year round. Seeing that hint of greenery especially during the winter months, gives me hope for sweet summertime! And speaking of summer, don’t these flavors scream fresh summer garden? Truth be told, I whipped up this specific naan pizza combination for me, myself and I, but our kids devoured it! Good thing they’re cute, it kind of makes sharing easier…kind of.

5. Ricotta Peach Bacon Naan Pizza

I seriously can’t. This pizza is off the charts. Using ricotta as our base cheese was a first for us, and let me just say, wow. The creamy ricotta paired so well with the crispy-salty bacon. The sauteed peach added that salty-sweet component and the arugula, that pretty green that pairs so nicely with everything else on this pizza. I loved seeing my kids try new flavor combinations tonight, this was definitely another fan favorite!

Cook With Your Kids

One of my favorite aspects of our Naan Pizza experiment is that I can make them with my kids. I’ll just say it, not enough of our kids are being allowed to help and participate in the food preparation in our homes. We are producing young adults that have never boiled elbow macaroni before. Tragedy.

I get it. I’m definitely a get-it-done-quick-and-clean type mom. Watching my daughter’s pour a cup of flour into the mixer while it poofs out all over the counter can literally make this hag lunch lady break out into a sweat.

But that same experience makes my beautiful girls grin from ear-to-ear. And it builds a confidence and skill set that I’m desperate to instill in them while they’re still home with me.
